A Wedding Written by the Rain
From Berlin to the heart of Puglia, Estefania and Sascha gathered their families and friends at Villa Rocca 1914 in Ostuni for a celebration that none of us will ever forget.
She is Mexican, he is German, and together they have built a life in Berlin. Their wedding reflected exactly who they are: warm, welcoming, joyful and full of life. What nobody expected was that rain would become one of the main characters of their story.
The weather changed many of the plans for the day, but instead of taking anything away from the celebration, it created moments that felt even more meaningful, intimate and unforgettable.
Getting Ready
Before the First Drop Fell
The morning unfolded peacefully inside Villa Rocca 1914. While guests arrived from different parts of the world, Estefania and Sascha prepared separately, surrounded by excitement, anticipation and the quiet emotions that always accompany a wedding day.
Outside, the sky hinted that the weather might not cooperate, but inside there was only happiness. Friends and family shared stories, laughter and a few emotional tears as the couple got ready to begin a new chapter together.
The atmosphere felt calm, intimate and deeply personal, the perfect beginning to a day that would soon surprise everyone.
Ceremony
When Love Finds Shelter From the Rain
The original plan was to celebrate the ceremony among the olive trees surrounding the villa, one of the most beautiful settings imaginable for a wedding in Puglia.
But shortly before the ceremony, the rain arrived.
The olive grove gave way to an elegant indoor space where family and friends gathered closely around the couple. What could have felt like a disappointment quickly became something extraordinary.
The room felt warm and intimate. Every smile, every glance and every word seemed amplified by the closeness of the space. Estefania and Sascha exchanged their vows surrounded by the people who mattered most, proving that the true beauty of a wedding never depends on the weather.
Sometimes the most meaningful moments happen when we let go of our plans and simply embrace what the day offers.
Couple Session
Dancing Between Raindrops
After the ceremony, we stepped outside to explore the grounds of Villa Rocca together.
The rain softened for a while, leaving behind dramatic skies, fresh air and a beautiful light that photographers dream about. The olive trees, the stone walls and the countryside surrounding Ostuni looked even more magical beneath the clouds.
Rather than worrying about the weather, Estefania and Sascha embraced it completely. They laughed, held each other close and enjoyed a few quiet moments away from the celebration.
These portraits became some of my favourites from the entire day. Honest, spontaneous and filled with the feeling that nothing else in the world mattered except the two of them.
Reception
Toasts Beneath Umbrellas
As the evening began, guests gathered outdoors for dinner despite the continuing rain.
Tables were set beneath umbrellas, creating one of the most atmospheric scenes I have ever witnessed at a wedding. Candlelight reflected on wet surfaces while guests shared food, stories and endless toasts beneath the gentle rainfall.
It felt cinematic, almost unreal.
As the rain became heavier, the celebration naturally moved indoors. The formal dinner evolved into a relaxed standing buffet where everyone continued eating, talking and laughing together.
Not a single person seemed bothered by the change of plans. If anything, the unexpected circumstances brought everyone even closer together.
Party
Tequila, Thunder and Celebration
Then came the moment everyone will remember forever.
Instead of waiting for the rain to stop, guests ran straight into it.
The dance floor exploded with energy as friends and family danced beneath the storm, completely surrendering themselves to the joy of the moment. Umbrellas disappeared, shoes were forgotten and the celebration became wonderfully chaotic in the best possible way.
And then came the tequila.
Estefania brought a taste of her homeland all the way from Mexico, and before long glasses were raised in every direction. People from different countries, cultures and backgrounds celebrated together as if they had known each other for a lifetime.
It was wild. It was emotional. It was unforgettable.
Rain had changed almost every plan for the day, but in doing so it created something even more special. Estefania and Sascha's wedding became a reminder that perfection is not about sunshine, flawless schedules or carefully controlled moments.
Perfection is found in people who choose joy no matter what.
And on that rainy day in Puglia, there was plenty of joy to go around.
