Everything I Lost, I Found in You

Every wedding is different, and I try to approach each one with fresh eyes. Even before pressing the shutter, I already know that in post-production I’ll aim to bring back not just what happened, but the feeling of having lived it. For Federica and Cristian, I chose to give the images a subtle film-inspired touch: a natural grain that breathes through the colors, and a dreamy, ethereal black and white that lifts certain moments out of time. Not a filter, but a way of turning photographs into memory.

With that in mind, I began the day with the preparations. I love using a wide angle during these moments because it allows me to step into the scene, not remain outside it, and to capture the energy of the space. Each room became its own world: hands adjusting details, laughter filling the air, little fragments that together created a frame full of life and movement.

One of the most powerful moments was Federica’s arrival at the ceremony. She crossed the courtyard of Masseria Montalbano with her father by her side: the warm light spilling over the white stone, guests turning in unison. It felt as if time had paused just for her.

The ceremony itself was intimate, emotional, and deeply moving. I didn’t need to search for anything—every glance, every trembling voice carried the story by itself.

After the vows, we took a quiet moment just for the two of them. The couple session was stripped down, natural, made of simple gestures and closeness in the stillness of the countryside at sunset. These understated moments are often the ones that stay with you forever.

And then came the party. A whirlwind of energy, music, and laughter that never seemed to end. To convey that sense of movement, I played with longer exposures: lights stretched into colorful trails, bodies became pure rhythm. Looking back at the photos, you can almost hear the pulse of the music again.

Federica and Cristian’s wedding was all of this: raw emotion, families united, friendship and pure celebration. My role was simply to observe and translate it into images. The rest was done by them and by the unique light of Masseria Montalbano.
