Nikki & Bobby – A Timeless Love Story in the Stones of Matera


When Nikki and Bobby reached out to me from the United States, they already had a clear vision in mind. They weren’t just looking for a couple’s photoshoot during their Italian trip. They wanted something cinematic, elegant, and timeless. From the start, I understood this was going to be a special project.

They sent me visual references inspired by iconic films and renowned photographers: carefully composed frames, nostalgic tones, soft light, and a vintage, film-like atmosphere. Their aesthetic was refined, poetic, and deeply personal.

It was their idea to choose Matera, a city that seems suspended in time. I couldn’t have imagined a better setting. The ancient stone dwellings of the Sassi, the golden light bouncing off the limestone walls, and the labyrinth of silent alleys make Matera feel like a dream carved into rock.

Not by chance, some of the most spectacular scenes of the James Bond film No Time to Die were shot here. That detail inspired Nikki and Bobby to rent a black Alfa Romeo spider, adding a perfect touch of Italian elegance to our visual story.

We wandered through the sun-drenched streets, explored hidden corners and open views, always searching for the right frame to express their connection. The summer heat was intense, but they never stopped smiling. Nikki and Bobby were a joy to photograph, not only for their beauty and natural grace but for their kindness, curiosity, and the way they embraced each moment.

When it came time to drive up to the scenic viewpoint, they even let me take the wheel of the Alfa Romeo. For a brief moment, with the wind in my hair and the warm light of the golden hour all around, I felt like I was in a film too. Though to be honest, I felt more Il Sorpasso than James Bond.

They told me they plan to print and frame the photos for their home, not just as keepsakes but as pieces of their journey. A way to bring a fragment of Italy with them, especially Matera, the city that made them dream and is now forever part of their story.
